Welcome to Speedy Piran

Free interactive family adventure stories that help you discover more about Cornwall

Coming on holiday to Cornwall?

Want to know more about the places, myths and legends?

I'm the fastest motor boat in Cornwall. Come and 'ride and decide' with me in my interactive stories and choose what happens.

My adventures are for all the family - not just the kids! Find out about Madgy Figgy - the witch of St Levan, find out what Betty Stogs did, where the Doom Bar is and what Goldsworthy Gurney invented.

Meet Doug the Tug and Dotty the Yacht. Find out what the sea birds did to her shiny new decking... What story will Gabby the Crabber tell you about the fishing fleet in St Ives?

My stories are best when they are read out loud several times so everyone can join in and all choices can be explored. Put on your life jacket and click on a story to start:

These three stories are set in Treeth, the fictional seaside harbour town on the south coast.

The Pirate Ship story is a great introduction to the characters.

The stories contain some illustrations too. Younger readers should start here.

These stories are set around the coast of North and West Cornwall.

Each story is set in a real coastal town and is set around real events, legends and customs.

The stories contain several 'depths'.

First Time: so you can read with less detail to start while you learn about the characters, places and events.

More Story: Once you have explored all the First Time choices, some stories provides extra detail in the legends and choices.

As well as being readable separately, each story above contains a third level of 'depth'.

The third level contains clues that will help you find the location of St Piran's 'Lost Church'. There are three clues to collect so you can answer the questions in the final story.

Finally, each Speedy Piran story includes KernoCards - free cards that help discover more about the myths, legends, buildings, places and people of Cornwall.

These can be downloaded as PDFs on most mobile phones, tablets and computers. Many are available straight away (click the link on the right) with lists like 10 best Cornish Ice Creams makers and Great Places to Eat Out.

Others need to be found by reading through the Speedy Piran stories and making choices along the way.

Also, there is a game to be played when you have collected a few KernoCards. Start your collection now!
